Khalsa Tercentenary Message
Felicitations to Devotees by Sant Khalsa Ji from Sri Anandpur Sahib
Dear Khalsa Ji,
Today, we are celebrating Tercentenary of the creation of Khalsa and devotees in India and abroad are quite excited about this great event. On the holy soil of Sri Anandpur Sahib, let us resolve that we have to become the same kind of Sikhs as were baptized by Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. We have not to be hypocritical in any way, we have to follow the principles enunciated for the true khalsa. Let us determine to follow the khalsa tenets till the last breath in our life. Then alone, we can justify this celebration of the completion of 300 years of the Khalsa. |
None of us should be without Amrit and without the Guru. We have to follow Rehat Maryada or the religious code with love and devotion. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji wanted the Khasla to be so distinct that he could be recognized among lacs of people. It is not possible without Gurbani. We must, therefore, love the true form of the Khalsa and dress ourselves in accordance with the requirements for it. |
We may be cut to pieces but we must not give up the dress and form of the Khasla. We must not tell a lie and must work with our own hand without depending upon anyone else. Nowadays, there are many people who are Sikhs only in name, but not in acts or appearance. They have distorted the image of Sikhs in the world. We must motivate them with our own example and get the blessings of the Guru. We must not take Amrit only for a show. We must make it a part of our life. We should achieve the spiritual peace by reciting Naam or the holy word. So long as our inner self is not enlightened, we must keep reciting Naam regularly because true enlightenment comes after continuous recitation of the holy word. We should aim at dressing ourselves as a Khalsa and leading the Khalsa way of life. We should serve the suffering and the oppressed people of the world. First of all, we should ourselves become true Sikhs and then teach others to become so. We should rise above the narrow considerations of any kind and adopt the humanistic ideas so that we may find acceptance before the lord. |
It is our duty to spread the ideals of Khalsa throughout the world. We are indebted to our Gurus and great men who sacrificed their lives for the establishment of these ideals. We have a proud heritage which we must not forget. We should not be ungrateful and it does not behove us that we only keep talking and do nothing. |
Mere talking is futile and writing useless things do not promote the Sikh panth. First of all, we must lead our own lives in accordance with the principles of Gurmat. Instead of following Gurmat and the religious code, we tend to criticize it directly or indirectly, which is a blunder. We must accept it and follow the Guru in a true sense. We may be divided into various organizations and perform different duties, we must follow the same ideals of Gurbani. We should develop not only physical contacts but also intellectual understanding and we should not run after each others benefit but seek the welfare of all. If we find some distortion anywhere, we should consider it amicably and remove all our shortcomings. We can seek direction from Gurbani and Sikh history. We should consider Sri Guru Granth Sahib as our true guide and Guru. We must show reverence for the Guru everywhere and should not merely worship him or bow our heads to him. Instead, we must follow his command, which is very important. We must not become a cause of divisions in the Sikh Panth. We must pray to the Guru that there should be unity in the Panth. Instead of following the dictates of the mind or the people, we should follow the Gurbani and remain within the limits of the Gurbani principles. We must not betray the supreme sacrifices of our great men. All the organizations should have brotherly relations and consider one another as flowers in a garden. We must adopt the Bani and the dress required of a Sikh. The Khalsa should live the life of a saint-soldier who helps the suffering and the oppressed people. For the sake of our religious places, we should be ready to sacrifice even our life. We must consider Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as the manifest Guru always and forever. We must consider the Gurbani as divine revelation and must maintain the internal and the external reverence for the Gurbani throughout our life. We must perform our duties very sincerely and honestly. We must keep the five symbols of the Khalsa, i.e., Kakars with us as finest gifts of the Guru. We must not take to the evil ways from which the guru has forbidden us. If any Sikh happens to commit an error regarding these commands, he should seek forgiveness form the five beloved ones. |
All the rich and the poor people must reserve tenth part of their income for religious service. The propagation of the Sikh principles should be done out of this fund. Likewise, we should spend two and a half hours out of the twenty-four for holy recitation and meditation. We must not forget Naam at any time on any day. For this purpose, we must make use of the early hours of the morning for holy recitation. We must not miss this time for prayer. We should not be an ignorant, greedy, or hypocritical and must become true Sikhs of the Guru. We should love Gurbani, religious code, and Khalsa dress. A Khalsa can be recognized by the arms he bears. We should not be careless about Khalsa dress in any manner. Today, at Takh Sri Keshgarh Sahib, we should resolve that we would never have hour hair cut and maintain the Khasla stamp on our form forever. We should consider Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji as the only Guru. We must not waste our time by following the pseudo human gurus. We must have an abiding faith in the Tenth Master and Sri Guru Granth Sahib. We must live in the company of pious Sikhs in this age of Kalyug. Whosoever tries to take us away from the Guru or the religious code, we must not go near him. According to the Tenth Master, all human beings are alike; we should therefore love all mankind. The Khalsa does not acknowledge the distinctions of caste because the Khasla is above the caste system. We must not believe in superstitions and dogmatic faiths. We must give up the worship of graves or cremation places. Gurbani is the source of eternal life during this age. We must recite Gurbani every day, understand it, read it, sing it, listen it and practice it. The fragrance of Guru's love should be spread by us. The love of the guru should be in our very existence. Life without the Guru and Naam is futile. Wherever a true Sikh lives in any part of the world, he should lead an ideal life of a Gursikh and become a model to others. He should not indulge in any bad deeds, which bring a bad name to the Guru. There should be no disputes among the Sikhs. Whatever decisions the community heads or the community itself takes regarding any dispute should be accepted without any objections. We should never consider our understanding higher than that of the Guru. Everything should be done by having full faith in the Guru and the Gurmat. Food, dress, and living style should be according to the principles of Gurmat.
So, I call upon the dear ones of the Guru who have come to seek the Guru's blessings at Sri Keshgarh Sahib from different corners of the world to adopt the principles of Gurmat very sincerely and should firmly resolve that they would lead life in accordance with the guidance of the Guru. We, the members of Shiromani Sant Khalsa Dal, at the Sant Khalsa Foundation, Tapoban, Dhakki Sahib, hereby resolve that we will abide by the principles of Gurmat firmly and live a life according to these principles. We will not hesitate to sacrifice anything to obey the command of the Guru. We will always try to be the true Khalsas of the Guru. We will always work for the rise of the Khalsa. We will never adopt dividing tactics or slandering ways in the Panth. We will always strive to uphold the reverence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib throughout the world. We will always lead a life in accordance with Naam or the holy word. With the blessings of the Guru, we are sure to succeed in our resolve as Khalsa is also a form of the Guru. The Guru dwells in the Khalsa. We will always avoid such practices as have been strictly forbidden by the Guru. We will always abide by the commands of the Guru and attain spiritual bliss and worldly prosperity. |
I call upon the Khalsa devotees to pay special attention to their children. They are the future of the nation. Children should be sent to such schools where they learn the principles of Gurmat. While getting worldly education, our children should not deviate from the path of the Gurmat. They should never have their hair cut or take to addiction. |
They should obey their parents and the Guru. It is the duty of the parents that they should teach them the true style of life. They should not make their children become a burden on earth, but should make them true devotees, wise, generous and brave persons who bring glory to the Khasla throughout the world. They should not become objects of shame. The Sikh style of life is being violated in the land of Punjab itself.
This land has become a hell in many cases. On this holy occasion, we must make some resolves to conform to the Khalsa way of life. Instead of merely living to eat, we should work for the uplift of Panth, nation, society and humanity. We should try to make this world a better place to live in. Nowadays, the Sikh community has lost the true Khalsa spirit which must be revived. First of all, we should become true Sikhs ourselves and then enlighten others with our own models. We must adopt the qualities of Gurbani and try to spread these ideals all around. We should foster the values of politeness, courtesy, patience, hard work, bravery etc. We must, first of all, awaken ourselves and then awaken others. We must have unity and friendship among ourselves. The Guru may grant us strength. We must follow the path of Gurbani under the blessings of the Guru. If we take one step towards pious living, the guru will take millions of steps towards us to give his blessings.
I, therefore, call upon all of you to become true sons of the Tenth Master. We should remember whose children we are and who Sikhs we are is. On the occasion of the Tercentenary of the Khalsa, the Khalsa must rise. The Khalsa can do anything with the blessings of the Guru. The Guru is all powerful. He sacrifices all for us. So, we must not be complacent and take concrete steps and resolve firmly to follow the path of the Khalsa.
Dear Khalsa Ji, I congratulate you on the completion of three hundred years of the Khalsa. Let us resolve that we would take the baptism of the sword and abide by it till the last breath in order to lead a blessed life. We must go only after making this resolve which will make our visit to the birth place of Khalsa really meaningful and we would earn the blessings of the Tenth Master. We will be able to attain bliss in this world and the next world. Instead of blaming each other, we must realize our own mistakes and resolve not to commit any errors in future. We must give up anything to seek the love of the Guru and the Gurbani. A true Guru and Naam are the permanent companions of a Sikh. We must beware of the people who try to bring about a dissension in the Sikhs. We must remember the supreme sacrifices of our great men. The five beloved ones followed the commands of the Guru by offering their heads. We must go from here after learning something so that we can live a better life. Let us try to light a candle of love in every heart. We can achieve world peace with the help of Naam and the Guru. Any wrong utterance by oversight may be ignored.
I again congratulate the Khalsa devotees sitting in India and foreign countries on this occasion of the Tercentenary of the Khalsa.
Waheguru Ji ka Kahsa, Waheguru Ji ki Fateh. |
